One of the best things about coworking spaces is the opportunity it affords you to connect with other professionals. But sometimes it can be hard to know the best way to make those connections, as no one wants to come across as a pushy sales person. Here are some tips for how to effectively network in your coworking space:

Introduce yourself

Coworking spaces are designed for you to meet and interact with like-minded people. Take the initiative to introduce yourself to people you pass by in the space and let them know what you do. Sometimes all it takes is a quick introduction to make a meaningful connection.

Strike up conversations

After making that initial introduction, be warm and start conversations with your coworkers when there is an opportunity. Find mutual interests to talk about or learn about their lives. If you are too pushy about trying to sell your services you can make others wary of interacting with you, focus on building relationships.

Attend events

The great thing about coworking spaces is they host events for their members. This is a great way to meet other people in your coworking space, whether the event is focused on professional development or is a happy hour for people to relax. Use these events as an opportunity to connect with like-minded people and build your relationships.

Let your passion be on display

There is a difference between trying to sell your coworkers your products/services and allowing them to see your passion for what you do. By showing them your passion you create a sense of curiosity and build relationships. This will make you stand out in people’s minds when they need what you have to offer.

Share knowledge and ideas

Part of the coworking mentality is openness. By sharing your knowledge and ideas with the people you work with, you can create an environment of collaboration and support that will help both your and others in your coworking space grow their businesses.
