Things to do in Kingston this October
Now that fall is here, there are still plenty of things to do in Kingston. Gear up for the Halloween season with a few festive and frightening activities, or check out some of the other cool events happening in the city. We have highlighted ten things we think are worth checking out this October:
Ghost and Mystery Trolley Tour - October 1 - 27, Downtown Kingston
Hear stories from Kingston’s mysterious and paranormal past, some dating back 200 years, on the Ghost and Mystery Trolley Tour. This evening tour departs at 6:00pm and last 90 minutes.
Fort Fright - October 3 - 6, 10 - 13, 17 - 20, 24 - 31, Fort Henry
Experience all the horrors of Fort Fright as Mindset Research opens its doors for the first time to unveil a place where all living things are tragically distorted.
Wolfe Island Corn Maze - All month, Wolfe Island
Looking for a great activity for the whole family? Visit the Wolfe Island Corn Maze. This year’s design features two mazes with a refreshment area in the middle. At the end, complete your farm experience by visiting with the farm animals.
The Wiggles Live - October 5, Leon’s Centre
A great activity for those with young kids looking for something to do - The Wiggles will be performing at the Leon’s Centre for the first time. Join Emma, Lachy, Simon, and Anthony for the Party Time Tour featuring Dorothy the Dinosaur, Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus, and a brand new friend, Shirley Shawn the Unicorn.
Mini-Oktoberfest - October 6 Memorial Centre Farmers Market
Head down to the Memorial Centre Farmers Market for this years Mini-Oktoberfest. For $10 you receive a meat or vegan tasting platter with sausage, pretzel, and a selection or toppings and condiments from market vendors. There will be a mini-beer garden featuring $5 mini-pints by Riverhead Brewing.
Kingston ComiCon - October 6, Portugese Cultural Centre
Kingston’s one and only ComicCon featuring a variety of vendors and artists from all over Ontario selling awesome stuff: new and vintage toys, comic books, jewelry, DVDs, anime, art prints, video games and more! Admission is free, but food donations are being taken for the local food bank. Receive one raffle ticket for each item and be entered to win awesome prizes.
Yoga Class on the Grass - October 13, Memorial Centre Farmers Market
Join Janati Yoga School in the grass at the centre of the farmers market for a free yogal class from 10-11am.
In the Dark at Murney Tower: A Haunted Challenge - October 18 - 20, Murney Tower
Have you ever wanted to be a ghost hunter? This is your chance. Take part in a small-group investigation of one of Kingston’s landmark sites. You will be trained on investigative equipment and provides two hand-held IR cameras to record your adventure.
Queen’s Homecoming Football Game - October 19, Richardson Stadium
Cheer on the Queen’s Gaels as they face the York Lions at Richardson Stadium at 1 PM.
Pumpkin Carving Workshop - October 26, Machlan Woodworking Museum
Learn the basic relief carving techniques in a safe environment to create depth and visual interest.
