Local Restaurants Within Walking Distance of VentureClub to Check Out
In a previous blog post we touched upon some of the local independent businesses within walking distance of VentureClub that are part of why it is so great to work here. Today we wanted to focus on some of the great places available for us to eat.
Kingston has one of the highest restaurants per capita in the country, and with our offices located right downtown there are more places to eat than we can count. With so many options within a few minutes, how can you possibly choose where to go for lunch of dinner?
We have highlighted a few local, independent restaurants that are among our favourites for you to try:
Crave is Kingston’s largest independently owned and operated coffee house, scratch bakery, and full service kitchen. Offering up delicious coffees, teas, freshly baked pastries as well as breakfast and lunch options, they are a great option to hit up anytime of day.
Located down on Ontario St, Wooden Heads has delicious wood fired pizza, as well as an assortment of tasty appetizers and entrees. A perfect spot for a date night or nice dinner with friends.
Black Dog owns a group of four restaurants that are each so delicious it is hard to pick just one. Harper’s Burger Bar has tasty gourmet burgers, Dianne’s Fish Shack and Smokehouse offers amazing surf and turf, Le Chien Noir provides an exquisite upscale dining experience, and Atomica provides delicious Mediterranean food and pizza. They are committed to using fresh, local ingredients when available at each of their locations. Regardless of what you are in the mood for they have something to satisfy you.
A Kingston institution since 1982, Bubba’s poutine has been rated #1 by Queen’s University. Also offering pizza and burgers, Bubba’s is a great spot to hit when you are looking for some comfort food.
A unique grocery experience located in downtown Kingston. Here you can pick up responsibly sourced food, order a hot meal to go or grab a bite to eat. They are always looking to bring fresh ideas to the table to add some creativity to your shopping routine.
The Mermaid Avenue Sandwich Factory is designed for sandwich lovers. The bread is made fresh in house and the ingredients are sourced locally, so you can feel good while you choose from one of their signature or deli sandwiches.
Mio Gelato has been bringing authentic Italian gelato to Kingston since 2010. With over 40 flavours to choose from depending on the season they are sure to have a flavour you love and something new for you to try.

How can you choose just one place for craft beer with three great options? Downtown Kingston boasts the original Kingston craft brewery: Kingston Brewing Company, Stone City Ales, and SanTur Brewing. Each of them offer great local beer, delicious food, and they each have a patio.

There are so many great places to eat that it was hard to stop writing this list. There easily could have been another dozen additions. With so many options for coffee, snacks, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the hardest thing is going to be choosing where you want to eat today. Having a never ending variety of options for where to go on your lunch break or for an after work bite to eat is just another reason why working at VentureClub is an amazing experience.
